Roads and Chip Sealing Update

While the County is responsible for the road conditions, the Metro Board (not the HOA) has been in regular contact with the El Paso County Department of Public Works about this due to its relationship to our irrigation project.  We were told last year that Cathedral Pines roads were a priority for the County in 2023.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature intervened.  The County normally starts chip sealing in June, but due to the floods in the southern part of the County they had to redeploy their resources to address the roads that were washed out there.  As a consequence, our timing was pushed back significantly.

As a result of so much work being affected by the floods, the County opted to outsource our chip sealing project and the contract was just awarded this week.  I was told the work could start yet this week as they want the project to be completed while the weather is still warm.

Finally, just a reminder though that chip sealing is a temporary solution, and the County will likely need to repave our roads in the next few years.  But we should see some material improvements soon!
